Bowen is the first defensive starter lost for the season. Bowen was not rushing as well as he has in previous seasons, but his play against the run has been solid. Regardless, Bowen's season is over thanks to a knee injury first suffered on Oct. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said doctors do think Bowen will need the microfracture procedure. According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Bowen has suffered cartilage damage which could require microfracture surgery, on top of the torn PCL which has limited him for the last month. Indeed, tight end Niles Paul will play fullback for Young.
