• Ted Wells concludes Incognito and others harassed Martin, and others

    Summary of 29 articles · Updated Feb 15, 2014
Wells concludes that Incognito treated Martin so poorly and so persistently for such a long time that it led to Martin leaving the Dolphins. The report said Incognito, who was suspended by the Dolphins in November, and fellow offensive linemen John Jerry and Mike Pouncey harassed Martin. Jerry, like Incognito, is a free agent. Text messages from Turner, who was commended for counseling Martin during a previous 2013 bout with anxiety and depression, to Martin urging him to exonerate Incognito in the days following Martin’s departure from the Dolphins and hospitalization are included in the report, which Wells deems to be in good faith but inappropriate. The Report is the result of an independent investigation led by Mr. Wells into allegations that the abrupt departure of Dolphins starting offensive lineman Jonathan Martin on October 28, 2013, midway through the season, was the result of persistent bullying and harassment by some of his teammates. That player was teased often about being gay by his teammates, although he wasn’t believed to be gay by any of them, and was given the male doll when when other members of the offensive line were given female models.
