Texans’ Keo to start in place of Reed against Chargers

Coach Gary Kubiak said Saturday that Keo will start in place of veteran safety Ed Reed against the Chargers. Keo spent the preseason preparing to take the field with the Texans’ first-team defense. Keo's had plenty of opportunity this summer with last year's starter Glover Quin gone and Reed recovering from his April hip surgery. Safety Ed Reed continued the process toward returning for the Texans. That will change Monday during the Texans’ regular-season opener at San Diego. “I’m always going to work like that because I’m only one play away from being a starter,” said the fifth-round pick of the 2011 draft. “I’m happy.
