Sharpton has been placed on injured reserve. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Darryl Sharpton is done for the season as a result of a hip injury. Sharpton was injured in Sunday’s loss to the Colts, an injury that coach Gary Kubiak said left him concerned after the game. The NFL didn’t require Gary Kubiak to formally reveal the state of the Texans’ health situation Tuesday heading into the playoffs and so he demurred, except to lament the loss of linebacker Darryl Sharpton to an undisclosed hip injury. “He’s had some tough injuries,” Kubiak said of the third-year linebacker Sharpton, who sat out for almost a full season with a torn quad tendon before returning to play in seven games and start five. “He’s a fine young player. The Texans are down a linebacker for their playoff game against the Bengals. He started five of the final seven games at inside linebacker, providing the Texans with help they needed after Brian Cushing was lost for the season.
