• Utah Jazz: Dennis Lindsey prepares for first draft in lead seat as Jazz GM

    Summary of 7 articles · Updated Jun 28, 2013
The Utah Jazz officially name Dennis Lindsey as their new general manager during a press announcement at the Jazz practice facility on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. In his first draft as the Jazz’s general manager, Dennis Lindsey immediately made his imprint Thursday. Thursday marks Lindsey’s first draft as an NBA GM and his first real opportunity to put his stamp on a Jazz team that, over the next several weeks, will be sorting out its identity. Rather than playing safe, the Jazz went after an impact player. Such a move is always difficult in a top-heavy draft, but those other lottery teams should find value in what the Jazz can offer. Armed with the knowledge that the Jazz are not about to engage in any sort of strategy that CEO Greg Miller describes as "a get-it-fixed-now, mercenary-type approach" to rebuilding, my expectations for Thursday’s NBA draft are appropriately reasonable. Here’s who they picked on the other three occasions: 1980 » Louisville guard Darrell Griffith , Georgetown guard John Duren 2004 » Minnesota forward Kris Humphries , Kansas State guard Kirk Snyder 2011 » Turkish center Enes Kanter , Colorado guard Alec Burks
