• Utah Jazz get first look at Damian Lillard, Blazers

Former Weber State star Damian Lillard returns to Utah on Thursday as a rookie point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers. The Jazz ran into a hot-shooting bunch of Blazers, who played without All-Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge but did have former Weber State star Damian Lillard. The Jazz led 10-4 before the Blazers took over. He scored 21 points against the Jazz on Monday at the Rose Garden, and leads the Blazers with 17 points per game in the preseason. "I think Johnnie was a little bit of an older brother in some ways," said Randy Rahe, Lillard's coach at Weber State and an assistant at Utah when Bryant played for the Utes. It's still preseason, so anything the Jazz do poorly, like all the things they did well in the first six exhibition games, can't be viewed as a harbinger of the upcoming regular season. But they couldn't do anything right from the beginning Monday, when they were whistled for their first delay of game of the season after taking more than 90 seconds to report for tip-off.
