Pinch-hitter Danny Valencia had a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto Blue Jays over the Boston Red Sox 5-2 Wednesday night. Valencia sent a 2-0 fastball over the wall in left field for his third home run of the season and first in a Blue Jays uniform. The first two batters of the inning reached base and Valencia came in to pinch-hit for third baseman Juan Francisco. Valencia's late blast salvaged what had otherwise been a quiet night at the plate for Toronto. Tazawa typically struggles against the Blue Jays, and eight of the 20 home runs against him have come from Toronto. With Boston leading 2-1, Edwin Encarnacion doubled off Joe Kelly starting the seventh, and left-hander Tommy Layne relieved.
