New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith will be in Washington D.C. Vilma may have an even stronger argument. And while that won’t keep Tagliabue from allowing former Saints assistant coach Mike Cerullo to testify on Thursday without Vilma and Smith present, Smith said Tuesday that former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is scheduled to testify on Friday and Vilma and Smith are scheduled to attend. Vilma and Smith won't be able to attend Thursday's hearing because the Saints are playing in Atlanta that night but they have said they plan to attend Friday's session when former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is scheduled to appear. The source explained that Vilma and Smith want to be present to assist the lawyers, who are expecting to be provided their first opportunity to cross-examine Williams and Mike Cerullo, both former members of Sean Payton's coaching staff who provided the NFL most of the information about the team's alleged bounty program. Smith was suspended for four games and former Saints players Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove were also suspended. The information that Cerullo and Williams provided led the league to suspend the four players on two occasions, as well as Coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis, and linebackers/interim head coach Joe Vitt.
