Only weeks after signing with the Minnesota Wild, winger Thomas Vanek made headlines for less positive reasons Monday when his name was linked to a federal gambling investigation connected to a Rochester, N.Y., restaurant. Vanek signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Wild on July 1. Vanek visited a federal courthouse in that city with his lawyer Monday and a local TV station filmed them leaving. Federal Government have asked for my cooperation in an investigation. The 30-year-old Austrian played nine seasons for the Buffalo Sabres before being traded to the New York Islanders last year.
